What is Xenical?

Xenical is the brandname for the drug orlistat, which prevents your body from absorbing all of the fat you eat. Because of this, it is important to avoid high fat intake and to maintain a low-calorie diet.

Who should take Xenical?

People with a BMI over 30 would benefit from Xenical. It should be accompanied by a reduced-calorie diet and exercise plan. Be thorough about your medical history in your application, as some conditions may make Xenical unsuitable for you.

Can I take Xenical if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

No. Xenical can prevent you from absorbing nutrients that your baby needs. Even if you are overweight or obese, you should not take Xenical if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

What are the side effects of Xenical?

The most common side effects of this drug are related to the gastrointestinal tract, as this is the area affected by the medication. Frequent bowel movements, urgent bowel movements, oily or fatty faeces, and more are possible. The chance of side effects occurring decreases the more closely you follow the recommended dietary plan.

Speak with your doctor further about your medical history and potential side effects to ensure that Xenical is right for you. Always alert your doctor if you are experiencing side effects.

How effective is Xenical?

If taken as recommended by the doctor, Xenical can help you lose up to 5% of your body fat.
